Split Boys Trip 2026
4 nights in Croatia before Oktoberfest in Munich
The 30-second brief
Recommended base: Veli VaroΕ‘ / Marjan / West Old Town β one apartment for all 4 nights, walkable to the Riva, close to swimming and the boat quays. Full reasoning in the Area guide.

Scored out of 100
My weighting for a 4-man Split trip. Location 25 Β· Layout 20 Β· Value 20 Β· Terrace/view 15 Β· Beach 10 Β· Boats & bars 10.
Where to actually stay
Split is small, but the right street matters. Higher bars = more of that thing. Here's the honest read on each area.

π§ Agent's routing notes
- Cape Town β Europe: no direct to Split. Expect a hub β Doha, Dubai, Istanbul, or a European hub (Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich). Munich-in / Split-out (or vice-versa) can beat a round trip.
- Into Split: seasonal direct flights from many EU cities in late Sep still run but thin out fast after the summer peak. Zagreb or a bus/ferry backup is worth knowing.
- Split β Munich (2 Oct): options are a direct-ish flight (often via Zagreb/Vienna), or a long drive/train. Flights are the sane choice for a group β book this leg first, it's the squeeze point.
- Open-jaw tip: fly into Split, out of Munich back to Cape Town. Saves a backtrack and usually money.

Veli VaroΕ‘ base Β· Apartments F&A Β· semi-private boat day
A walkable Old-Town-adjacent apartment, one swim-and-islands boat day, relaxed food, and a clean Split β Munich hop on 2 Oct.
π Agent's notes
- Veli VaroΕ‘ gives you Old-Town charm without sleeping in the noise. It's the safe, smart pick.
- Apartments F&A is the best balance of location, comfort and terrace at β¬559 β well under budget, leaving room to splurge on the boat and Munich.
- Little Backyard (9.8) and Vuko (9.6) are the strongest ratings β chase those layouts if F&A's rooms don't suit 4.
- Book the Split β Munich leg and Munich beds first β they're the constraint, not Split.
- Everything refundable where possible. Oktoberfest final weekend punishes the disorganised.
